James P. Donovan
Senior Executive Vice President for Technology and Strategy

James P. Donovan is Senior Executive Vice President for Technology and Strategy at FINRA. In addition to overseeing technology and strategy, Mr. Donovan has a broad range of responsibilities, including registration and disclosure, transparency services, the data office, member relations and international.
Mr. Donovan has over 25 years of experience working in the securities industry-most recently as the head of the securities industry division at the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecom (SWIFT), a global financial telecommunications company, from 2005-2007. At SWIFT, he was responsible for strategic planning, financial management, human resource planning and product development. Prior to his time at SWIFT, Mr. Donovan spent 16 years at Citigroup from 1988 to 2004, first as a vice president and later as a managing director, where he was responsible for business management, technology, strategic development and product development in various global securities businesses. Donovan oversaw Citigroup's securities business operations in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Japan.
He previously was vice president of the corporate trust division at Chemical Bank and was vice president of commercial paper operations for the securities division at Bankers Trust Company.
Prior to his service in the securities industry, Mr. Donovan worked for Trans World Airlines. He received a bachelor's degree in Marketing/Management from Fordham University.
